Latest radio frequency division released

China" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (Order No. 62 of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) will officially come into effect on July 1, 2023. A revision has been added to clarify that radio positioning services in the 79-81GHz frequency band will be prioritized for automotive radar applications. This measure will highly align China's use of the millimeter wave frequency band with international standards. The mainstream frequency band of current market traffic radar includes 80GHz. This revision will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the future development trend of traffic radar products, which means that the frequency band of traffic radar products will return to 24GHz or choose a higher frequency band of 93-95GHz.

From the perspective of product cost-effectiveness, the 24GHz frequency band products are still the mainstream choice for roadside traffic detection radars, with the advantage of high cost-effectiveness. This includes checkpoint speed measurement and capture radar, traffic flow adjustment radar (installed on the roadside, with the beam direction perpendicular to the road), traffic wide area radar, etc., The new version of the "Regulations on Radio Frequency Division of the People's Republic of with a large accumulation of products, users, and relatively complete chip solutions. As a new high-frequency band, 94GHz has not yet been widely used and lacks mature supply chain support. The process from technology entry to product implementation and transformation is even more distant. And the higher frequency band means higher requirements for hardware quality such as product boards and processing, which are all unavoidable obstacles that affect the 94GHz frequency band becoming the mainstream frequency band of current traffic radar.

SGR 24GHz Cascaded Radar

The early 24GHz radar was mainly used for close range speed measurement and cross-sectional traffic flow detection. It was a small array radar with fewer transmitting and receiving antennas, and the detection distance and accuracy were limited. The new generation of 24GHz radar is a large array radar with significant performance improvements, which cannot be separated from the support of highly integrated radar transceiver chips.

SGR Microelectronics has launched a set of 24GHz SRK2401A and SRK2402 chip products that can support cascading. SRK2402 integrates two transmit channels, four receive channels, and local oscillator signal input ports on the chip, supporting multi chip cascading and achieving excellent RF performance while achieving MIMO functions. SRK2401A integrates a decimal frequency division phase-locked loop with modulation function, two transmission channels, and four reception channels, supporting multiple modulation modes such as FSK, FMCW, LMFSK, etc. Its excellent RF performance has reached the international leading level.

SRK2401A and SRK2402 IC

The multiple combinations of SRK2401A and SRK2402 can easily achieve a multi send multi receive MIMO scheme. While improving the detection range and accuracy of radar and broadening the detection angle, this scheme can achieve a perfect unity of high performance and low cost.

The performance of the cascaded 24GHz large array millimeter wave radar has been significantly improved, with the ability to distinguish and filter out static objects and edge perception. It can quickly recognize the edge contours and categories of multiple targets without interference from environment, light, and other factors. In addition, visibility has also been significantly enhanced with performance upgrades, and high-precision measurement has also been achieved in this upgrade. Due to the traditional single chip scheme being limited by antenna arrangement, two or even more chips are now cascaded together through cascading, increasing the number of product channels and obtaining more comprehensive and comprehensive data, with the advantages of high performance and low unit channel cost.

As a leading roadside solution supplier, Suzhou Rayson Electronic Technology has released the industry's first 24GHz traffic millimeter wave Rayleigh integrated machine in mid-2022. Through close cooperation with SGR Microelectronics, this product applies technologies such as multi-chip cascade scheme, MIMO, AI visual perception, and multi-source heterogeneous data pre fusion, with effective measurement range, high data accuracy, low fusion delay, and easy engineering calibration With the advantages of high comprehensive cost-effectiveness, it can meet the needs of different scenarios such as signal control optimization, digital twins, vehicle road collaboration, and holographic intersections. Once launched, the product has received continuous attention and favor from industry customers due to its highly reliable traffic flow data collection and output capabilities and stable performance. In the future, both parties will continue to increase research and development investment, conduct research on the performance improvement and functional expansion of 24GHz roadside traffic radar, and launch high-quality products and services that are more in line with China's complex traffic perception needs.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, and other departments have clearly pointed out that China will take the route of "vehicle road coordination" in the future. As an important component of roadside sensing methods, the construction and development of high-performance roadside millimeter wave radar has become a pressing need. As a leader in the domestic millimeter wave radar chip industry, SGR Microelectronics will closely follow the policy footsteps, further strengthen the technology and product development of millimeter wave radar chips and enable more millimeter wave radar solutions to be implemented as end products.
