NXP Semiconductors

NXP's predecessor was the semiconductor division of Philips in the Netherlands.

In 2006, the business department was split from Philips and officially established NXP Semiconductors - NXP Semiconductors. The name NXP comes from 'Next Experience' and retains Philips' genes, emphasizing that NXP has accumulated valuable experience and rich resources from the past 53 years at Philips.

At the beginning of NXP's independence, CEO Richard Clemmer and the management team established the company's strategy to develop market leading and highly differentiated businesses and generate profits. In 2015, NXP merged with Freescale Semiconductor, another leading semiconductor company, to further expand its business in the Internet of Things and automotive field, and focused on the development of safe and reliable edge computing, connectivity technology and efficient power management solutions. And has established market leadership positions in key areas such as ADAS, next-generation electric vehicles, and secure connectivity across the Internet of Things, mobile devices, and automotive ecosystems.
